National Sales Manager

A well-established industrial products and consumables business is seeking a commercially driven National Sales Manager to lead and scale its Australian sales organisation.
Operating within the industrial, workshop consumables and fastening products market, the company supplies trade and industrial customers through a national direct sales team. The business forms part of a larger Australian-listed industrial group and represents a key strategic growth division within the broader organisation.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving national sales strategy, strengthening sales capability and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO & Managing Director, the National Sales Manager will lead a geographically distributed sales organisation consisting of state sales managers, a business development leader and more than 40 sales representatives across Australia.
You will play a critical role in shaping commercial strategy, building a high-performance sales culture and ensuring consistent execution of the company’s direct sales model nationally.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the national sales strategy aligned to growth and margin objectives
• Set annual sales budgets, state targets and individual performance metrics
• Lead, coach and develop State Sales Managers and the national field sales team
• Strengthen leadership capability within the regional management structure
• Drive consistent sales processes, training and performance accountability
• Strengthen relationships with major national customers and support key negotiations
• Identify new market opportunities, customer segments and growth initiatives
• Monitor pipeline health, sales performance and competitor activity
• Implement structured reporting, forecasting and sales cadence across the organisation
• Align sales activity with supply chain, inventory and operational capabilities
About You
You are an experienced sales leader who combines strong commercial thinking with the ability to lead and motivate large field-based teams.
You will likely bring:
• 8–10+ years’ experience in senior sales leadership roles
• Proven experience leading a large, geographically dispersed sales team
• Experience operating within a direct selling or route-based sales model
• Strong commercial acumen including pricing strategy, forecasting and margin management
• Demonstrated success delivering organic revenue growth and market expansion initiatives
• Experience managing major national or strategic customer relationships
Experience within industrial supplies, workshop consumables, fastening products or comparable trade-based B2B distribution environments will be highly regarded.
